FlexTech Packaging Has a Fully Functional Lab for Film Testing

LabOur expertise in testing films and engineering products has resulted in many specifications CUSTOM built for our customer’s exact application.

With over 50 years of films testing, film application and product design our Team can get it right for you the first time.

Reviewing customer needs is important, not only for performance but to keeps costs low.

Exact Film + Custom Made = Performance!

LabWhile producing these products, our 24 hour production lab is testing every roll for Quality. With the vast array of equipment in our scientific lab, technicians continue the testing of each product for MVTR, OTR, COF and many other important attributes.

While not only functional for production, our lab can reverse engineer your product. This may result in product improvement or cost reduction. We will not force you in to a “Standard” over engineered structure. We will give you just what your product needs!

Lab Capabilities

Test Scope of Test
OPTICS
Haze Measurement of the amount of forward light scattered through a piece of film
Gloss @ 45º The reflectance properties of film when hit by a light source at an angle of 45º
Opacity This procedure determines how impervious a sample is to the passage of light

HEAT SEAL
Seal Initiation The temperature at which the flexible film begins to seal to itself
Seal Curve The measurement of seal strengths of flexible films from initiation to destruct
Hot Tack The strength of heat-seals immediately after the sealing operation

SURFACE
Treat Measurement the films wetting tension
COF Frictional properties of a film or sheeting specimen when slid over itself or another surface

IMPACT
Dart Drop Strength measurement of a film’s ability to withstand the shock of a falling dart without breaking

PERMEATION
MVTR Transmission rate of water vapor through barrier materials
OTR Transmission rate of oxygen gas through barrier materials

PHYSICAL
Elmendorf Tear Measurement of film’s ability to resist tearing under
specific conditions
Tensile A measurement of the strength of a film and the ability to
withstand stretching
Secant Modulus An index of stiffness of plastic sheeting and film
Shrinkage Measurement of percent of film shrinkage under a controlled temperature & time interval
Thickness Profile Measurement of film thickness
Microscopic Layer
Distribution
Analysis

Measurement of the % each layer represents in the total structure
